Pain & Fatigue
Pain & fatigue are common issues with fibromyalgia, long-covid (or other long-viral syndromes), chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases and many other long term conditions such as obesity, Type-2 diabetes. These are symptoms that often can't be improved very well with medications but require a whole-person approach that takes into account the underlying causes.
Whilst scientific research hasn't yet explained why some of us experience fatigue and pain that lasts for months to years, we are starting to understand some of the causes including mitochondrial health.
There is evidence that lifestyle interventions can improve quality of life, reduce the need for medications and improve energy levels.

Your appointment for pain & fatigue
We will take a whole-person approach to explore the drivers of your pain or fatigue. This includes assessing your lifestyle, nutrition, hormone status and any infectious drivers.
Assessment
We will discuss what you've tried in the past, what medicines you are on and what your goals are. We will assess your sleep quality, nutrition, body composition, fitness, mood and hormone status. We can take blood tests if needed.
Treatment options
We can explore lifestyle interventions as well as medication treatments if you prefer. We can discuss the scientific evidence around hot-cold therapies, photobiomodulation (light therapies), supplements and nutritional interventions. We can discuss the role of HRT for those in the peri-menopause and menopause and the evidence that this can improve fatigue and energy for some women. We can explore testosterone replacement therapy (after blood testing) for both men and women. We can discuss weight loss treatment if indication and how weight loss can improve pain and fatigue.
